Chris Martens is hosting a photo excursion to the Corriganville Movie Ranch in Simi Valley. The ranch was a working film studio and movie ranch for outdoor location shooting, as well as a Western-themed tourist attraction. The ranch provided scenery as well as man-made structures and sets, and served as the background scenery for movies and television programs such as Fort Apache, Buffalo Bill in Tomahawk Territory, The Robe, The Lone Ranger, The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin, Sky King, Circus Boy, and Star Trek.
It was destroyed by wildfires in 1970 and 1979. The site is currently a public park in the City of Simi Valley, called Corriganville Park, and operated by Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District.
Directions:
From Ventura/Oxnard/Camarillo
101 South (Thousand Oaks) to 23 Filmore to 188 Simi Valley (134 changes to 118 in Moorpark, no change of freeway just change of signs). Take 118 Simi Valley East to Kuehner Dr. (east end of the valley). Exit freeway onto Kuehner Dr. turning right at Stop sign (going South). Take Kuehner (little over a mile), turning left onto Smith Rd. (Stop Light). If you go over the bridge/train tracks, you've gone too far. Take Smith Rd. all the way down to the end of the road and turn left into the park.
We will meet at the West end of the park. After the shoot, we can have a nice late breakfast/lunch at the Santa Suzanna Cafe. Good food and they have a nice outdoor patio
